From a young age MAJOR was recognized as a special talent. Having 13 siblings it was inevitable for him to distinguish his mark amongst the crowd. A graduate of the esteemed Berklee College of Music (Quincy Jones, Arif Mardin, John Mayer, etc) and the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (Beyonce, Chandra Wilson, Patrick Swayze, etc), MAJOR grew up in the world of orchestra and bands, choirs and vocal competitions. More specifically, when his High School Vocal instructor compared his voice to that of the great Nat King Cole Major knew he had a treasure he couldn’t take for granted. This knowledge came in handy at the church where he spent many days and nights in the choir singing gospel songs and in the pews listening to much older singers belt to songs of victory. “My inspiration of FAITH will never die”, Major exclaims.
His artistic journey has been extensive considering his young age. Experiences including, The Apollo Theatre, 2002 Winter Olympics, The Houston Grand Opera, Gospel Music Workshop of America and The Juilliard School. Sharing stages with greats such as Aretha Franklin, John P. Kee, Chaka Khan, Sheila E., Israel & New Breed, Beyonce, LeAnn Rimes and even with President Barack Obama as the singer of our National Anthem.
